Hello dear friends,

Yesterday, I was inspired to create a meditation for you (you’ll find it at the end of this message). Inside the swirl of inspiration came a realization:

.

Everything I make for you, I make for myself, too.

.

This might seem self-evident, but walk with me a little further into this idea. What you make for others, you are making for yourself. What you give to others, you are giving to yourself. Yesterday, as I let the meditation flow through me, I benefited, too.

.

This, of course, can work on the other end of the spectrum as well. When we lash out in anger, when we push our opinions on others, or even simply making excuses for inaction, we hurt others and, at the same time, betray ourselves.

.

Yes. We’re connected, no matter how much some people want to believe that independence is a desired (or even possible) reality. When I sit down to journal or doodle or do some experimental cooking, you might say I’m only doing it for myself, that it’s just selfish time wasting.

.

I used to think that, too.

.

What I’ve realized over time and again yesterday, is that every time I practice playing, every time I practice making art, every time I practice being present to the messages in my body, I am building a bridge to you.

.

Every time we practice, we are building a bridge to each other.

.

This is why I am devoted to creating every day. Connection. As you’ll hear in the video below, even though I desire connection, I fear the vulnerability of it. Even through my resistance, I’ll keep making stuff anyway. I hope you will, too.

.

Here’s what I made for you this week. Let me know how it went for you.

.

.

In shared vulnerability,

Holly
